A first collection of our daily strip "Im Museum", published by Reprodukt, will be presented at the Frankfurt book fair this october. Here are four already translated episodes and also some general information about the book.
Synopsis: A girl and a boy are locked up inside a museum. As they begin to explore the rooms of the building, they realize that the museum is of tremendous size and contains very strange exhibitions, creatures and settings. The two kids get to know a prehistoric insect, Charles Manson, Ernst Jünger, Meat Loaf, Fidel Castro, Pacman and other central characters of history. In our translated episodes they meet a pixel smurf...(click on the episodes to enlarge)

The "Frankfurter Rundschau": The Frankfurter Rundschau is a national (German) newspaper, published everyday but Sunday. It is considered to be liberal. Along to their change to a smaller tabloid size in May 2007, the Rundschau also wanted to start a daily comic strip. That's why comic expert Christian Schlüter asked me to think about a concept. I asked Jan-Frederik Bandel to join the project. He agreed and so finally this thing started.
Work on the strip and concept: Since we are working for a comparatively large audience, we figured that it would be a good idea to arrange the story as cryptic as possible. Very often the "jokes" are only comprehensible if you recognize a quotation from literature, pop culture or if you use online search engines to find out about hidden meanings. Furthermore we considered illogicalness to be very funny and therefore tried to spread hints that lead to nowhere. After all, our strip is located on a page with brainteasers and similar stuff, so it also should be fair to puzzle the readers.
The contributers: The book contains a preliminary note by the German writer Brigitte Kronauer and an afterword by Frank Witzel. Jan-Frederik Bandel, who is writing the text for the strips, is a specialist in German studies.
